In 2007, BuckeyeMMA opened its doors. The gym is designed from the ground up with the MMA athlete in mind. Aspiring fighters have the opportunity to learn from experienced coaches, train with hi-level athletes, and have access to all the resources and equipment necessary to develop their skills. At BuckeyeMMA, realistic training and intense preparation are the norm. Beginners and seasoned veterans train side by side in an ego-free environment. Students and fighters are treated equally and EVERYONE is expected to work hard. Although our students are not required to compete, we do expect everyone to take practice seriously and to help their teammates whenever possible.
We don't wear uniforms, we don't do katas, and we don't charge ridiculous fees for belt testing... we don't even use a belt ranking system. Progress is gauged by performance in the training room and in competition. BuckeyeMMA fighters hold professional and amateur titles in events across the region. Organizations such as Superior Fight League, First Strike Combat, the IFBL, Havoc Extreme Fighting, The Ohio Challenge, the ICFA, and the NAAFS all have or have had champions trained at BuckeyeMMA.
